Overview

Award-winning businesswoman and best-selling author Jo Haigh will bring an interactive workshop which will provide participants (people who are aspiring to be in a directorship or are currently in one) with an overall understanding of the role and responsibilities of a director.

Throughout the workshop, Jo will provide an insight into how to carry out the role effectively and to protect both the individual and the corporation, as far as practical from potential liabilities.

Please note there is no formal assessment or exam for this course.

What the workshop will cover:

  • How the board functions and board member’s roles
  • How to run an effective board meeting
  • The legal role of directors and their compliance
  • Companies Act 2006
  • A director’s guide to staying out of jail
  • Basic statutory and criminal liability
  • Director and Officers liability insurance

The Business Masterclass Series:

This workshop is a part of a series of four interactive workshops being presented by Jo, covering essential skills and insights for directors. The other workshops in the series are:

  • An Insight Into The World of a Non-Executive Director
  • How to Build a Board of World-Class Directors
  • Finance for Non-Financial Directors

The cost to attend each workshop individually is £225. If you registered for all four workshops separately the cost would be £900. Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
